Wiri Fire Spicy Shepherd’s Pie
This winter classic gets a fiery makeover with the bold heat of Wiri Fire, blending seamlessly into the savory meat and creamy potatoes.
Ingredients:
For the filling:
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 lb ground lamb or beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 carrots, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1/4 cup beef or vegetable broth
- 2 tsp Wiri Fire Hot Sauce (or more to taste)
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the topping:
- 2 lbs Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and diced
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 3 tbsp butter
- Salt to taste
Instructions:
- Boil potatoes in salted water until tender. Drain and mash with butter and milk. Season to taste.
- In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add onion and carrots, sauté 5 minutes.
- Add garlic and cook 1 minute more. Add ground meat and cook until browned.
- Stir in tomato paste, Wiri Fire Hot Sauce, broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5–7 minutes.
- Spread meat mixture in a baking dish, top with mashed potatoes, and smooth evenly.
- Bake at 375°F for 25–30 minutes, or until golden and bubbling. Broil for 2 minutes at the end if you like a crispy top.
Pro Tip: Add some sharp cheddar to the mashed potatoes for a cheesy finish.
